Jane Williams was born in England in 1964, was raised in Australia and has lived in Lutruwita/Tasmania since 2002. Her poems have been widely published and anthologised since the early 1990s, earning awards including the Anne Elder Award, the D.J. O’Hearn Memorial Fellowship and the Bruce Dawe Poetry Prize. Some of Jane Williams’ poems have been developed in collaboration with other poets, painters, sculptors and photographers and she has been an invited reader at venues and festivals around Australia and in countries including Ireland, USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Malaysia, and Slovakia where she held a three month residency in 2016 at the Bridge Guard Residency, Štúrovo which contributed to her collection Parts of the Main (Ginninderra Press 2017). In 2024 Jane held a six week residency supported by Arts Tasmania and Hosking Houses Trust in the Stratford-upon-Avon District where she worked on her upcoming tenth collection Afterimage.
